We are very excited about storyboxHE or short s-box. A space to come together to share stories from and about Higher Education. Stories which might relate to personal experiences, struggles and/or successes, linked to learning and teaching. Stories that reveal something about our experiences in higher education. You might be a student or a teacher and have something to say, something to contribute, something to ask through your story.
storyboxHE is an open box that keeps growing and expanding the more we put into this, the more we can get out of it.
The stories we collect through storyboxHE will be shared with all of you, the storyboxHE community, so that you can use and adapt these for your learning, teaching and development. Have a look at using storyboxHE for some ideas and please contribute yours too.
Freire (2011, 83-84) said
“Banking education resists dialogue; problem-posing education regards dialogue as indispensable to the act of cognition which unveils reality. Banking education treats students as objects of assistance; problem-posing education makes them critical thinkers. Banking education inhibits creativity and domesticates (although it cannot completely destroy) the intentionality of consciousness by isolating consciousness from the world, thereby denying people their ontological and historical vocation of becoming more human. Problem-posing education bases itself on creativity and stimulates true reflection and action upon reality, thereby responding to the vocation of persons as beings who are authenti only when engaged in inquiry and creative transformation.”
However, we won’t be able to do anything without your stories. Please reflect on your recent learning and /or teaching experiences and contribute a story. All submissions will be reviewed, fully anonymised, edited if needed and posted as stories here on storyboxHE under a creative commons license. The plan is to create bite-size animations that could be used in a variety of courses, workshops or for self-study.
We will also need help with animating your stories and would like to invite anybody who could help us on a voluntary basis to get in touch with us. Please note, this is an OER project without seed funding.
We look forward to receiving your stories.
